We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our growing Finance team at our Teaneck, NJ office. This role is responsible for maintaining financial records, processing accounts payable and receivable, assisting with financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain day-to-day financial records and ensure books are accurate and up to date.
  • Process Accounts Payable (AP), including invoice entry, coding, and payments.
  • Assist with reviewing and processing of T&E transactions.
  • Assist with Accounts Receivable (AR) processes, working closely with the Sr. Billing & Collections Analyst to manage invoicing and collections.
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations to verify accuracy and completeness of financial transactions.
  • Maintain and update various account reconciliation including prepaid expenses, fixed assets, credit cards, etc. .
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including journal entries and accruals.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports summarizing the company’s financial position.
  • Assist with external audits by preparing required documentation and supporting schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and company policies.
  • Manage tax-related documentation and support the annual 1099 filing process.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency in financial operations.
  • Stay up to date with accounting regulations and compliance requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in public accounting at a Big 4 firm preferred. 
  • Proficiency in accounting ERP software (NetSuite preferred) and MS Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • CPA certification or actively pursuing certification
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information responsibly.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced startup environment.
